Larger projects are undertaken on a turn-key basis, i.e. we assume overall responsibility for the technical, scheduling and financial aspects of the problem solution, from planning to completion and the final acceptance inspection. All supplies and services are included in the turn-key contract. Project monitoring is effected using the most modern methods (software), the customer receives regular and comprehensive progress reports. Customer interests are paramount in this process. The project is finalized only after the acceptance inspection by the customer, the handover of documentation and full training.

The basic steps in the problem solution are outlined below; they may vary according to the size and extent of the project: 

New Antennas

  • Analysis of requirements 
  • Drawing up the specification
  • The antenna is designed and rated on the basis of general data transmission requirements (frequency bands, polarisation, EIRP, G/T, characteristics, type of tracking system). The data are entered in a specification which serves as a basis for 

    • the design and manufacture of the antenna hardware
    • the design, development and production of the feed system. 
  • Advising the antenna hardware manufacturer in the design, manufacturing and erection phase. 
  • Developing, producing and supplying the feed system (feed horn, feed network and feed box with mounting) 
  • If required: Planning, purchasing, integrating and acceptance testing Tx waveguides (via Az, El and Pol), LNA system and tracking system. 

  • Writing test and acceptance inspection reports for HF system 
  • Calibration and acceptance inspection of antenna and ancillary equipment

Upgrade of existing Antennas:

  • Analysis of existing antenna 
  • Depending on the type and extent of the modification required, the specifications for purchasing or developing a new feed system or the necessary modifications to the existing feed system are drawn up on the basis of the new HF requirements.

    Where necessary: Recording the HF specific actual data of the antenna (reflector geometry, surface profile) with the aid of existing documentation (test reports), using photogrammetric processes or optical measurements.

  • Design and manufacture of a new feed horn 
  • In the event of a change to other frequency bands: Computation of the feed horn (corrugated profile) to achieve the prescribed antenna radiation characteristics. Manufacturing the feed horn and testing its characteristics in the antenna testing station.

  • Manufacturing and assembling the feed network 
  • Depending on the extent of the necessary modifications, a new feed network is purchased or developed. In the case of minor modifications, the individual components are exchanged or re-engineered. Removal of the complete feed system may be necessary to carry out the modifications. In the event of a change in frequency bands, it may also be necessary to modify the feed box. 

  • If required: Planning, sourcing, integrating and acceptance testing Tx waveguides (via Az and El), LNA system and tracking system. 
  • Writing test and acceptance inspection reports for HF system 
  • Calibration and acceptance inspection of antenna and ancillary equipment.
